The wild ass lives in southwestern Asia, Southwest Asia is home to the Asian wild ass, also known as the “onager” (Equus hemionus). The donkey is a species of wild donkey found mainly in the arid, semi-desert and steppe regions of countries such as Iran, Turkey and Afghanistan. These beautiful animals have a distinctive sandy colored coat and are well adapted to life in arid environments. Unfortunately, the population of the Asian wild ass has declined due to habitat loss and hunting, so they are now considered endangered. Fortunately, efforts are being made to protect these majestic animals and preserve their numbers.
